Some foods you can only get at restaurants, and I thought fried mozzarella would be one of those things. Now after help from my dad we’ve figured how to get the perfectly gooey cheesy fried mozzarella that was once only available at restaurants. It’s just as good if not better home-made. This recipe is a little more tricky just because they need to be fried, but one you have the hang of it, it’s so easy to replicate, you will be making it for all your movie nights and game day celebrations.
Ingredients:
- mozzarella cheese block ( not the kind in the water)
- 1/2 cup flour (for 1 pound block of cheese)
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- canola or vegetable or corn oil
How to:
- cut the cheese into 1/2 inch square stick
- put sticks into gallon zip lock back and gently shake with flour, to coat
- mix eggs with 2 tablespoons of milk or water
- dunk sticks into egg mixture (to coat) shake off excess egg mixture then immediately roll in bread crumbs
- gently pack bread crumbs so they will stick
- these have to be double breaded, so dunk back into egg mixture, then coat again in bread crumbs
- the sticks have to be frozen before fried
- heat oil in skillet or fry pan, 1 inch deep. once hot. fry until golden brown on all sides, turn if needed. about 3-5 minutes
- finish in the oven
- serve with my old-fashioned italian sauce ;]
- enjoy the melty goodness 😀
