Hold it! Drop those Doritos! It seems like every time you need a snack it has to contain super high levels of salt and have little nutritional value, well not any more. This recipes gives you two options to create a flavorful snack that will really stick with you, so you wont be hungry 5 minutes after you eat them. These are great as a snack, but can also be used to spice up your salad or meal.
S&S Recipe (smokey and salty)
Ingredients:
- chickpeas(from a can or bought dried and rehydrated)
- chipotle powder
- sugar
- red pepper flakes
- ground ginger
- minced garlic
How to:
- preheat oven to 375
- lay chickpeas out on a lightly greased/sprayed cookie sheet
- if you have a mortar and pestle then use that to grind up seasonings if not put them in a baggy and smash them with a meat tenderizer
- use 3 dashes of chipotle, 2 dashes of garlic, 1 dash of ground ginger, pinch of sugar,and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes
- once they are crushed, sprinkle all over the chickpeas, mixing them around to make sure they are properly coated
- sprinkle with salt and pepper
- then cook for 7 minutes, stir/ flip them and cook for another 7-10 minutes
- they will have a slight crunch on the outside but will be moist on the inside, you don’t want to over cook them or they will be dry
- eat hot or cold, or on top of salad. store in the fridge
- enjoy!
Rosemary Garlic Recipe
Ingredients:
- minced garlic
- rosemary
- basil
- season salt
- chickpeas
How to:
- preheat oven to 375
- in mortar or plastic bag add 3 shakes garlic, 3 shakes rosemary, 1 dash season salt, and 1 dash basil
- crush until broken up and mixed
- in a lightly greased/sprayed pan lay out chickpeas
- sprinkle the seasoning over the chickpeas making sure they are thoroughly coated
- then put in oven to cook for 7 minutes
- take them out and stir them then cook for another 7-10 minutes
- they will be golden on the outside and moist on the inside
- great for snacking or salads
