Sweet and Savory Dumplings

You cant always have take out, especially in these financially hard times, so this recipe gives you the option of making a classic takeout chinese dinner at home.  It’s a one of my harder recipes, but worth the work.  Once you know how to make it, you will be making it every night.  I also paired this recipe with a recipe of a dipping sauce, its great for these dumplings or to spice up white rice. Its take in take out.

Ingredients: Dumplings

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced
  • 2 gloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 3 scallions minced
  • wonton wrappers

how to:

  1. in large bowl mix together everything except wonton wrappers
  2. spoon 1 teaspoon of mixture into center of wonton square
  3. lightly moisten all for edges of wonton wrapper
  4. fold over and seal by pinching
  5. heat a skillet with 1/2 inch deep of oil
  6. then fry on both sides until golden
  7. remove any excess oil from pan
  8. put dumplings back in, add 1/4 cup water, cover and allow to steam for about 1 minute until cooked
  9. then enjoy!

ingredients for sauce:

  • soy sauce
  • white vinegar
  • sugar
  • dried minced garlic
  • red pepper flakes
  • scallions

how to:

  1. in bowl mix 3 tablespoons of soy sauce with 1 splash of vinegar
  2. then add a sprinkle of sugar
  3. a dash of garlic
  4. a pinch of red pepper flakes
  5. a sprinkle of scallions
  6. its super easy, and can be used for multiple things 😀
